Details Arrive on Hawaii’s First Amazon Fulfillment Center

Permit records reveal Amazon is slated to spend more than $130mm on its first Hawaii fulfillment facility located near Honolulu Harbor. With such a commanding location at the core of Honolulu’s distribution network, also within 4 miles of Honolulu International Airport, the ripple effects of this project will sure to be felt in the coming years. This could finally trigger improvements or re-developments of much of the aging industrial properties in the surrounding areas of Sand Island, Kalihi and Downtown Honolulu as users find reason to locate close to Amazon. It could also lead to more fulfillment-related facilities like packaging and sorting centers in the area - more info below. One day, we might even see potentially smaller distribution centers on the neighbor islands like Maui and Big Island where Amazon has been rumored to be looking for space.
